Bulk Meta

Use Bulk Meta for fast updates to document Name, Description, Tags, and System Codes.

Bulk Meta lets you quickly update document metadata across your organization or a specific site, without opening and editing each file individually. There are two versions — one at the Organization level (covers global documents) and one at the Site level (covers that site's documents) — accessed separately but working identically once you're in.

Organization-level Bulk Meta

  1. Click the small gear icon below the Operate dashboard's top bar — this is separate from your username/account menu, so don't look there.
  2. Stay on the Organization tab (this is the default tab).
  3. Click Bulk Meta.

This version covers your global documents and includes three editable fields: Name, Description, and Tags.

Site-level Bulk Meta

  1. Click the small gear icon below the Operate dashboard's top bar.
  2. Click the Site tab and select the site you want to edit.
  3. Click Bulk Meta.

This version covers that site's documents and includes a fourth field beyond the Organization version: System Codes, in addition to Name, Description, and Tags.

Using the Bulk Meta editor

Once you're in either version, you'll see a table listing every folder and file at that level, with its full folder path shown above each row for context. For each item, you can directly edit:

  • Name
  • Description
  • Tags (and System Codes, if you're in the Site-level version)

Changes save as you edit — no separate save button required for inline edits.

💡 Working at scale with CSV: If you have a lot of documents to update, click the download CSV icon to export everything as a spreadsheet, make your changes there, then click the upload CSV icon to apply them all at once. Your uploaded CSV must be UTF-8 encoded.
